SATs start in England today and there is the usual controversy about whether the tests are too hard or, indeed, whether it is appropriate for primary school children to be sitting them.  Here in Wales, our primary school national tests are over and Caitlin and Ieuan tell me they think they did OK.  We won’t know until the school reports are released at the end of July so we’re keeping everything crossed until then.

It’s still revision season so if your kids are going through the stress of exam revision, you’ll find this post about revision and this post about coping with the stress useful.

In the meantime, this week is Mental Health Awareness Week which always focusses my mind on my own personal struggles with OCD, social anxiety and coping with anxiety generally.  Check them out if you feel as if you’re in the same boat.

We’re just a couple of weeks away from our first visit of the year to beautiful Devon and the Husband has managed to schedule his work so that he’ll actually be here the day before to help with packing.  Because he travels the world he has got travelling light down to a fine art and hates to take anything more than handheld luggage.

My handheld luggage is generally filled with medication for any possible medical emergency you can think of.  Savaged by swans? Tripped over a Maoam wrapper?  Overcome by fumes from a Yankee Candle?  I’ve got them all covered, trust me.

At least I remember a good book (or my Kindle) for the beach.

As usual, there are some great books on the linky – and don’t forget you can always add your own to spread a bit of book love.

Don’t forget that I still have plenty to be won on my giveaways page and don’t forget my weekly problem page here.

Happy hunting for your free and bargain books on this link.

Have a great week!

Oh wow I didn’t realise just how accessible free books were, I don’t really read as much now but it’s interesting on the range of topics you’ve included.

Every year there is always some discussion in England about whether the exams are too hard or age appropriate. Good luck to your kids though

I absolutely love reading but don’t get to do it too much. Now that I’m on holiday, I’m taking full advantage! xxx
