We’re now into week 2 of the holiday and whilst Mr Puke has packed his bags, Caitlin now has random stomach cramps and I’m just praying nothing else is brewing before our holiday. Caring for a poorly child is always very stressful, isn’t it and apparently the Norovirus is at large this summer and has been doing the rounds here in Dinas Powys. (You’ll find some tips for looking after a poorly child here.)

And, of course, there’s nothing worse than having to carry on working when you just want to go home and climb into your bed.  Find my tips for getting through the working day when you’re ill here.  It’s also possible that it’s your office that’s making you ill so if things are a little quieter at the moment, now might be a great time to make some changes to your office lay-out.

On the positive side it was great to finally see some rain, although the heat is apparently returning this Friday with temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s the first time we’ve had a ‘proper’ summer in years – even if we’ve had to get a kagool out.  It’s a traditional part of a British staycation, isn’t it?

What with the World Cup over (I didn’t succumb to Love Island), the Husband and I are finally exploring Netflix.  After Hinterland, Wallander and the sublime Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, we’re on to Unforgotten.  How we’ve managed to miss so much I really don’t know! Next on the list is Ripper Street, Lucky Man and The Night Manager.

I hope you’re finding the time to keep up with your reading.  This week saw the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of my all-time favourite authors, Emily Bronte.  And, I never realised that the fabulous Kate Bush shared a birthday with her.  Both will be forever associated with Wuthering Heights in my mind.  If you have never read the novel, you really, really should.
