Ieuan said to me the other day that he had at least 5 friends all with September birthdays and things seem to be the same with Caitlin. As soon as the kids go back to school, birthday party invitations seem to appear out of nowhere. Plus, I have still got a belated birthday party for Ieuan and Caitlin’s 11th birthday party to sort out.
I don’t know about you but I find children’s party organisation rather stressful which is odd, given that I organised conferences and social events as a busy marketer. It’s difficult enough to come up with fun presents for your own kids, let alone other people’s – plus there’s the knotty issue of what to spend on birthday presents for classmates and extended family members.
We recently discovered Tinc who make bright and fun stationery, gadgets and gifts for children. Happily, they are founded and based in the UK where they make a range of innovative products designed around the Tinc tribes.
Each tribe has its own colour – and personality. For example, there are the Hugga, who live high up in bamboo trees. They are green, fluffy and have big hands because they love hugging things. Everyone needs a Hugga in their life!
Or there’s the Tonkin tribe who live underwater. They’re a bit like jellyfish and are very chilled, happily letting the sea’s current move them to new and exciting places. (#BeMoreTonkin is my new motto).
In Tinc’s Pick ‘n’ Mix range you’ll find lots of colourful and funky stationery items for school or ideal for putting in party bags using the online ‘Build-Your-Own” tool. All you do is add the number of party bags you need for your party and then choose what to put in them to please your stationery addicts.
The more you spend the more you’ll save too. Spend £40 and you’ll save £10. Spend £100 and you’ll save £30.
We were sent two great present ideas which the kids haven’t stopped playing with.
The Tornado Lamp is a heat-free lava lamp (yes I can remember the originals) because it uses LED lights. Battery operated, you can get over 50 hours of glittery light with 3 x AA batteries (not supplied).
Then there’s the Sing It Loud Microphone with Speaker which the kids have been torturing us with (or singing as they call it) all weekend. It is surprisingly effective and I can hear them all over the house. And with my hearing, that makes a change!
So what kind of things will you find to fill your party bags? Here’s just a few.
Each item comes in a range of colours and the party bags themselves are free of charge.
Mini Silicone Purse & Metal Mini Torch – £3.00 each
There’s something to suit every taste and pocket to choose from and far easier than the customary sprint around the local supermarket and being left with a cupboard full of spares.
