Hello book lovers! I hope you have your Christmas preparations well underway with less than 4 weeks to go. You might be struggling to find the time for yourself to settle down with a great book but if you do still have the opportunity to settle down with a hot chocolate and a plate of biscuits, you’ll find loads of free and bargain books on this weekly book linky from Beck Valley Books.
Here you’ll find a great selection of pre-loved reads plus all the new releases about to hit shelves and Kindles, all downloadable from Amazon.com.
I’ve got a little further with my gift buying but as usual I’m scouting around for ideas and finding myself pretty shocked at some of the prices shops are charging for simple gift sets like stationery and toiletries. Whilst online shopping is a great way to avoid the crowds, I am noticing a decided increase in delivery charges and even a notional charge if you return something via a courier (yes, Next, I’m talking about you).
Thankfully, books are still easy to buy and in plentiful supply although I think it’s good to support the independent bookshops and publishers as well as Amazon.
I hope you caught my review of the fabulous “Public Speaking Super Powers” by the Carma Spence. If one of your goals for 2019 is to climb the career ladder or set yourself up as an entrepreneur, public speaking skills will help you get there quicker. There’s no room for shy wallflowers in business.
Or how about the delightful Nutcracker Sweets At Moonglow by Deborah Garner – a wonderful Christmas tale. When a nearby theatre burns down just before Christmas, cast members of The Nutcracker arrive at the Timberton Hotel with only a sliver of holiday joy. Camaraderie, compassion, and shared inspiration combine to help at least one hidden dream come true. As with every Christmas season in Timberton, this year’s guests will face the New Year with a renewed sense of hope. There is even a selection of cookie and candy recipes to try.
Later on this week look out for my review of a heart-warming detective story for doggy lovers featuring a detective Shih Tzu called Chrissy in Attorney At Paw by Diane Wing. Trust me if you love cute cuddly pups, you will really enjoy this murder mystery revolving around the untimely demise of Chrissy’s owner. Throw in a heroine who is battling her own demons and a little light romance and you’ll find yourself whiling away a happy hour or two.
As ever I have some great giveaways still running. If you are looking for stocking fillers, I’ve got some great colour changing Star Wars lights for kids to give away from Spearmark, as well as Drumond Park’s Super Ski Jump Tabletop game and a fabulous bespoke snugglepod from Haribo (a giant beanbag) – and there are more great giveaways in the pipeline. You’ll find all the details on my giveaways page as usual of course.
If you do manage to find a moment for yourself, as ever, you can find plenty of free and bargain books from Beck Valley Books on this link. Make sure you keep up with your self-care and carve out some time for yourself!
Have a great week!
