Is there anything better than warm evenings, time spent with friends and family, days out, and the endless days filled with sunshine? Summer is almost upon us – and we’re usually excited to update our spring outfits for summer chic, long floaty dresses, sunglasses and flip flops so why not update your home as well?
Unsure of where to start? Here I’ve come up with 6 simple ways to let the sunshine in and bring summer into your home! So, sit back and relax – throw open the doors and windows (check out these luxury doors if you’re in the market for a revamp) and let me take care of your home update for you!
Discover your taste for all things tropical
There’s nothing that says summer quite like a tropical print! So, bring some into the house! Flamingos, pineapples, the sun, vibrant and outlandish cocktails – anything you can get your hands on will certainly boost your summer vibe. We’re thinking cushions, throws, wall art, even little accessories like trinket dishes and tableware!
Speaking of outlandish cocktails – you might find yourself hosting more than one family or friend get together over the summer months, so go through your drinks collection or cabinet if you have one! And see what mixers and spirits you have – update your glasses collection and maybe buy a pack of cocktail umbrellas. You can always look up some interesting recipes online and as for the little ones, take a look at some alcohol free cocktails that they can even help create.
Freshen up your linen
Bye-bye trusty winter duvet! It’s going to be too hot for heavy bed linen in the upcoming months, so now is the time to switch to something much lighter. If you’re not looking forward to hot summer nights where you’re sticking to the sheets then consider switching your linen for some super cool cotton alternatives. Cotton sheets have ventilating properties and feel cool against the skin.
She sells seashells
It doesn’t all have to be about tropical prints and bright and bold colours. Summer is also the perfect time to embrace all things nautical. Cool blues and pale greens, bright whites and a dash of red here and there. You can collect seashells to display or cover your walls in nautical themed plaques and signs. Fringed mats or wall hangings will also help strengthen your overall look.
Add a touch of nature
Nature is in abundance throughout the summer months. So, why not bring a touch of it indoors? Tall, leafy plants in a deep dark green are the perfect addition to your bathroom, landing or even your living room space. They’ll make any room look fresh and new. House plants are also known for reducing stress and purifying the air, so they’re actually good for you!
Update your patio set
If your patio set is in need of some TLC – then why not update it with a lick of paint? You could go for a traditional colour like pale green, or go all out and choose something bright for a pop of colour!
